What is required for artwork?

Ideally, art in .bmp, .png, .pdf, .jpg as simple black and white preferred, otherwise .jpeg also vector format, .dxf, .dwg, .svg. If not in electronic format then clean high resolution images on standard letter size paper for scanning needed. On various art, many images may want to have filled/solid areas lased in addition to the artwork outline, as either required or as optional aesthetics. Consider however, the laser line/spot size is typically a few thousandths so solid areas will require extremely longer overall marking times, raising costs, and that may not be necessary, particularly if the run is very cost-conscious. If there is no font supplied, we have all of the MicroSoft fonts, SHX fonts, and many art clips to choose from.

What is a minimum charge for a personal item ?

~$20... using system fonts, simple ID. Incidentally, most industrial customers pay this for the Re-Ocurring Set Up Charge for production runs. Using a 3/4" Klein Tool Man/Pole logo and  1/8" part number under, cut .005" deep into the tool steel, only $.25 each after setup (using the JPT C-80watt). We are attempting to show that marking on one part only is costly, better to mark a few items at a time or bulk, easily reduces overall cost: tens, hundreds, thousands of percent!  ****  Example 1 ****   ATT/Lucent fiber optic coupler, gets logo and lettering on a 10mm raduis, 1.75mm height, ran at $.03 each, quantities in ten thousands, the production run incurring a $25 set up each time the job is processed. ***** Example 2 *****  Five hunting knives for different name personalisation, simple set up $20 and $.50 each. If there were significant quantities, tens, hundreds of names provided, same setup cost for a production run and then likely less than $.20 each, annealed/black lettering with relief.

What will my marking/engraving look like?

Often there are options. They likely can be appreciated through supplied visual media of similar applications. Dark Marking - levels of grey/black/brown on white or light or shiny surfaces. This is  achieved through a material color change and/or a literal engraving depth, in some cases incurring shadow (dark). Light Marking - the laser causing a lighter color mark on a dark background, i.e. some black plastics turn out with brilliant white lettering. Also Light Marking can be in the context of a typically shiny surface, where the laser duplicates a "sandblast" type effect, very specular, diffractive. Lastly, at other times, a reasonable mark may not be possible, as certain lasers (wavelengths) are required to achieve certain results in a given material. At present there are UV .355u, Blue .450u, Green .534u, Yag/Fiber 1.06u, and CO2 10u, each having its specialties and some sharing similar material processing abilities. The CO2 is the champ for paper, wood, stone, glass, many plastics and coated materials - CO2 lasers typical in Awards and Trophy Shops, but for bare metal marking, NADA. Texas Laser Marking is industrially weighted by its commercial prospect gained from over 30 years, 18 consecutive years as Lase-It, Inc. in Orlando, FL and as a result currently supports marking in the Yag/Fiber 1.06u laser world foremost: Marking ALL bare and coated metals; also many plastics, composites, rubber, vinyl ,nylon, leather and ceramic materials. HOWEVER, added machines for 2024 is a 40 watt LONGER .450u Blue Flatbed Engraver and a .355u JPT 8 Watt Galvo Marker, these providing overlap coverage and their unique ability on all ORGANIC materials...

Industrial customers - what entry advantages do they have ?

Free R&D to establish part marking feasibility and appearance acceptability. Also free PROTOTYPE or MASTER SAMPLE created using generic on file in house lettering/artwork and if approved for "GO", then artwork charges for copying the real layout (blueprint/design specification) with one-time costs ranging $15-75 most jobs) and finally a fully featured free MASTER SAMPLE/S created.

Do you offer on-site marking services?

Can be accomodated upon justifiable circumstances.
